Any bookkeepers out there....

I have a question for any bookkeepers.... I have an associate's degree in accounting and work for a local governement as the payroll/accounts payable person. I am also getting ready to start doing the books for my mother-in-laws small business.... my question is are there any certifications out there that would look good for me to have?? If I do well with her books and find tht it doesn't take up tooo much of my time, I may try to do this for a couple of other small businesses on the side.
