Pasta and rice calories - cooked or uncooked????

I'm finding it hard to determine the exact calorie count of rice and pasta. I bought a packet of Asda's Penne pasta, and it gives me the nutritional information based on 100g COOKED (although it didn't say that on the website when I checked the information).

Other brands give the nutritional information not specifying whether it's based on cooked or uncooked weights.

So, I have a dilemma - how much uncooked pasta will give me 100g of cooked pasta? Does it double it's weight when cooked?

The same question for Rice (and couscous and quinoa etc)...

Why can't food producers just stick to one ideal of just showing the uncooked weight, OR better still show the information of 100g uncooked AND the information for that same amount of the product AFTER cooking?

Pasta and rice are sponges and will absorb more water the longer their cooked, so it makes no sense getting data cooked, and the volume increases. Try nutrition data's website or other sources to find data for dry and disregard what your package says. 2 ounces of most dry pasta generally equals about 1 cup of cooked and is equal to 1 portion. 100 g's of cooked depending on the type of pasta or rice will result in many different conclusions. shame on them.
