I just started school. I go mon-fri 6pm-10pm. I also work full-time 5 days a week (8am-430pm). Since starting school I have only really been able to exercise on my days off. Even then I don't feel like working out because its my only 'free' time. I need help getting myself to do some kind of workout. Before I started school I would work out at least 4-5 days a week! Does anyone have any suggestions?Thank you!

Is it possible for you to get up early and workout? If you can get yourself into a routine of working out at 5 or 6 that would be really good, I know its early but you will get used to it plus you can sleep on the weekends. Just make sure that you go to bed when you get home from class. If that doesn't work than work out hard on the weekends and try and do a little something on your lunch breaks even if its just walking, GOOD LUCK!

Can you do it before work or on your lunch break? I find doing it first thing in the morning gets my day off right.

sometimes I break my workout up into 15 min a piece...try 15 or 20 minuets in the morning and 15 or 20 when you get home...Sometimes its all I can do in a day!

I agree - do small things, 15-30 minute workouts. otherwise stick to taking the stairs and being very careful with what you eat. If need be, just lose weight slower than you'd ideally want, because between homework, school, and work - you're going to be exhausted.

Is there any way to incorporate it into your transportation. Could you walk or ride a bike to school or work? Or maybe park far enough from work that it's a 15 minute walk in the morning and evening.

With such a demanding schedule the exercise will certainly help you cope with the stress.

    Good luck.

I understand and empathize with your time constraints, and with a full-time job, 1 hour round trip commute, and daycare scheduling have finally figured out that what I have to do is "sacrifice" my lunch hour 3x/week (meaning exercise during lunch and eat at my desk) and get up at 4am 2x/week to hit the gym. If I am just too exhausted to get out of bed at 4am, I'll do the lunchtime workout instead on that day. But, it's my personal pact that I never skip a day; even if all I can physically do is a 30 min walk, then that day is a success.

Hopefully something in here helps, but I ditto the above comment about the exercise being key to helping you cope with the stress that will come with your wild schedule! Those endorphins will be your best friends.

I'm a mother of 3 and only 22 years old and tryin to lose weight is hard for me cause I don't have the people there to push and or the motivation to do it and I use to be a thin hour glass shape now I'm at 215lbs and hating it and I've been told by doctors I need to lose weight cause of a hole in my heart that was found after having my last baby last year in july...

What are some of your motivations that keep you all goin and any advice would mean alot to me.... :smile

Thanks everyone! For awhile I was able to get up early to do my exercising..I just have to keep trying. On my days off I really do try to do as much as I can. I need to find a work out buddy who will stick with me on it. I have a couple friends who gladly go to the park with me but the one only walks (slowly) and the other has a weird schedule and it never fails someone gets hurt in her family so she can't go. But I'm gonna try to fit small work outs on days that i work and go to school. thanks again everyone!

Just work little things into your daily routine. Start with 5 minutes of yoga in the morning, do 10 push ups, squats and sit ups, at work stand up once an hour and make a circuit of the area--any activity is better than none. Check out the book 8 minutes in the morning by jorge cruise it is very motivational and also you can do it everyday in just 8 min. There have actually been studies done that show that if you breakup your workout or just do it all together you have the same health benefit. Good luck!!
