Calorie increase!?

Have decided to increase my calories from 1400 to 1600 to help boost my metabolism. Should I only increase my calories on the days that I workout or increase on non workout days too. Kinda scared to increase them but need to try something been stuck with these 3 or 4 pounds up and down for over 2 months! HELP!
