2-a-days?!?!

Hello all! I am new to the forums, but I have gotten so much inspiration and tips that I decided to jump in and ask a question. What are your thoughts on 2-a-days...I am trying to ramp up my regimen and I normally do 40 minutes to an hour of cardio at 5 am, then do my weights in the evening followed by an other 40 to 50 minutes of cardio. I do not feel as if I am overtraining, I am sore, but I drink a lot of water and a smoothie and feel better. Any insight you provide is appreciated...Thanks!

I think they are fine. I do 2 a days a lot. I usually do cardio on my lunch hour and then I do weights in the evening at my regular gym. Sometimes I flip flop them.0

Are you taking your rest days?
It's hard to say definitively without more specifics as to the types of exercise you're doing and the intensity.
For example if you were walking briskly on your treadmill in the morning, weights (working different parts of your body on alternating days) and then rowing or biking or elliptical in the evening I'd probably say no problem, on the other hand if you were running every morning and evening and doing weights (same muscle groups daily) you may be pushing your luck in terms of overtraining and/or an overuse injury and by not allowing adequate recovery between strength sessions limits their effectiveness.0 -
I do them at least 3 times a week. I swim in the morning and then do a bootcamp type class in the evening and currently I am finding out that I feel better on those days. Those days I'm more focused on making sure all my meal choices are good so that I fuel my body correctly. I take one full day off and that day can't come soon enough sometimes :-) Some may not agree but alot of times if we listen to our bodies it'll tell us if it can't do any more - the little guy on our shoulder telling us to stop doesn't count LOL0

I do two a days all the time! Doing one today...Tommorow and Thursday...
I usually do 40-60 min cardio mid day (lunch break)followed by an afternoon cardio warm up, then weights (or a pump class), follwed by more cardio if I feel like it!
Keep it up!
PS I usually rest sundays...but Sundays I cook ALLLL day long to prep for the week, that can be a workout in itself!0 -
I do the same thing. I work out about 30-45 min on the am and then 30-60 in the pm. I have more energy whenbi sk it this way and I feel likely metabolism gets a boost 2x per day. A0

Brian I alternate my cardio...for example, I do 45 minutes of cardio on the treadmill and a do chest/arms in the mornings, and then do the elliptical for 40 to 50 minutes in the evenings (no weights). I like to work the weights in during the mornings if I can, so that I can have my pick of the machines, if time permits before work.
As far as rest days...I normally do either Saturday or Sunday for rest.0
