I am leaving for vacation in 5 weeks. I would like to drop some good weight by then. Does anyone have any tips that can help with this. I am logging my food and I know I need to start a work out routine. What is recommened to burn burn and burn some more. I don't want to put how much I want to lose because I know people will say if you lose it fast you will gain it fast. So I am open to everyone's ideas.

  • Let me start by saying it is unhealthy to lose more than 2 lbs. per week unless you are more than 100 lbs. overweight. It appears by your ticker that you are, so you may lose 3 or 4 lbs. your first week or two. After that, it will probably level out to 2 lbs. per week or less. So, realistically, if you are 100+ overweight, I would expect to lose from 9-14 lbs. in 5 weeks, and this is a high estimate. Do a mix of cardio and weight training for maximum results, and do it at least 30 minutes per day, most days a week (4-5 is what I do). Don't over-extend yourself or you will regret it later.

2pounds per week is the tops anyone will rec. for a weeks worth of weight loss

if your just starting there is a good chance you`ll actualy gain at first as the body holds in some water weight when starting a new workout routein but it will release it again after some time.

Just have a great trip and make good food choices and get some exercise in and you`ll be on your way

Losing weight is a marathon, not a sprint. You didnt gain this weight overnight and its not going to come off that way. Saying that, I would recommend cutting down on carbs (not fully cutting them out) and exercising ALOT. I exercise 2 hours a day 6 days a week and walk or do deep cleaning on Sundays. I burn between 750-1200 calories a day. Most of the time around 900.

I usually do about 50-75% strength training and 25-50% cardio. I highly suggest an HRM because its really difficult to figure out how many calories you are actually burning. The machines an MFP are almost always wrong and overestimate. If your calories in/calories out are messed up...who knows how your really doing?

I know a lot of people say cardio burns more calories in less time....the thing is that cardio only has an after-burn of 2-3 hours and when you lift weights, it can last for 12 hours. You will burn more in the long run! Also, for every pound of muscle you gain, you burn an extra 50-100 calories a day without doing anything! Trust me, its the way to go.

I hope it helps, when I first started losing weight I was losing like 3-5lbs a week. I also had like 100+ pounds to lose.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I know it all takes time and losing fast doesn't give the body a chance for the skin to tighten. I was just wondering what others do. Again thank you
