It's not all about the pounds

After losing rapidly the first few weeks, I was getting frustrated about the lack of progress lately. However, I got back the results of my lab tests today (done after about 5 weeks on MFP). Compared to my results about 6 mos. ago, my total cholesterol was down over 60 points to 140, both my HDL and LDL were where they needed to be, and my triglycerides had dropped from 242 to 75. So it's definitely not all about the pounds. Maintaining diet and exercise, they will come, too. In addition, my A1C was 6.2. That is motivation for me to continue.

Same here, my Triglycerides fell 70 pts, my BP is 116/64 (used to be 130s/80, and my cholesterol was down 40 pts with the HDL where it needs to be, but the LDL still has a ways to go at 91 (wants it under 70), and A1C was 5.8 (down from 6.6. But I'm hoping by my May to get the okay to get off my cholesterol and BP meds.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to see someone with a similar experience. I'm still working on the BP. Diastolic is always low, but the systolic fluctuates by 30 points or so. Good luck with the meds. I've cut my diabetes meds in half, but would like to do more with BP. I've avoided statins so far.
