My fiance and I have always wanted to learn how to swing dance, and I know a few places that offer lessons. I am, however, worried that we would not be able to do so due to our weight. (I'm at about 190lbs and he is about 300lbs) I know it's a great way to shed pounds, but has anyone (200 pounds +) ever Swing Danced before?

I used to go out swing dancing quite a lot. I am a 200+ lbs woman and have not had any problems with it it. It can be quite energetic depending on the speed of the song and the moves you choose to do, but there are a variety of song tempos and moves so you don't have to be going at the most intense level all the time. I find a medium temp song more fun to dance to anyway as you have more room to add your personal style. It is great exercise. Back when I danced regularly I think I lost about 20 pound with that as my only exercise.
The beginning levels of the dance are the least energetic and then it builds as you move up. Definitely try a class. It is really a lot of fun and doesn't feel like "exercise" even though you are expending a lot of energy doing it at times.0 -
