50lb to loose, & 13 mile race to train for! Helpful tips & S

Hello I am new to posting on here, but sadly not new to dieting!

I’ve yo yo dieted for as long as I can remember, but I have only seemed to put more weight on, now I am 50lbs too heavy and at my wits end , hoping MFP can help!!

I’ve signed up to do the Great North Run in September and have started going for little jogs, but I still haven’t got that exercising bug yet!

Wondering if any of you have went from a couch potato to running a big race? And what encouraged you?

I need to get the bug soon, as September will no doubt be here in no time!
