New Rules of Lifting in shopping cart, but i am nervous

So..its in my walmart shopping cart along with a vacuum hah.

I am having second thoughts, like will I actually be able to do this?!
I am nervous about the increased calorie intake since I still have about 30 more lbs to lose.
I don't have a gym buddy willing to go in the weight room with me. Its very intimidating for me, its full of dudes and I will be looking dumb because I don't really know how to use the equipment at all. My gym is pretty busy too, I don't like the idea of people waiting on equipment and just watching me do my reps or whatever :( also will I need a spotter??

Ladies how did you get over this??

    Seriously, how bad *kitten* will it feel when you are comfortable in the weight room and can lift right along the guys? AWESOME. That's how it feels.

    Just do it - even if you are still losing, you need to build lean muscle mass, which helps you burn more calories, more efficiently. There's a very helpful group that goes with the book too:

    Seriously, what amsparky said. You will not regret it. Hell, I'm still only squatting with the empty barbell, but I still catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror in the weight room and think "Hey, I'm in the weight room, with the big burly men, and yeah, it's just a 45lb bar, but I'll get there. Go me." I've been at NROL4W for a couple weeks (2 or 3 I think now) and I've seen my weight go up, but I've also seen my waist lose a half an inch and my hips lose a half an inch. Lifting heavy is such a confidence boost. I finish my work-outs and I feel like I can take on the world.

    noone is going to be paying attention to you at the gym because they are working on their own stuff. and if they are looking , so what? that's their problem to be wasting their time, no need to make it your problem.

    i'm currently doing new rules (this is my second time around) and i started out at having 70 lbs to lose. i'm now at 50 pounds to lose, but i also dont follow their diet plan (i eat at a deficit).


    as far as knowing how to use the equipment, you can always try asking a trainer for help, but really at the start, the only equipment you might need to get information on is a squat rack (if you start lifting a weights that's too heavy to lift on to your shoulders), and the cable machine for the seated rows and lat pull downs. the other equipment like barbells, dumbbells and weights are common sense (left them up and put them down). oh yeah, there's a step needed for stepups, but i seriously doubt you're goign to need instruction on how to use a step considering you do it every time you climb a stair.
