Exercise Mat Recommendations?

Does any one out there have a recommendation for good, thick exercise mat that's not crazy expensive (say... $40 or less)?

I've got a yoga mat, but all my floors at home are hard surface (wood or tile) and the yoga mat's just not thick enough for sit ups and the like.

Figured I could spend hours reading reviews on Amazon, or I could just ask you guys :-)

Thanks in advance!

For under $40, probably under $20, you can get a 5x7 industrial-grade level loop area rug. Roll it up and stick it in the closet when you're not using it.

walmart has some nice ones. I do some p90x core on them with no issues. I think the thinner one is 10 and the thicker one is 20. good luck

I just found the floor matting at Walmart. Its made be Gold's Gym and only cost $19.99. There are 6 pieces that interlock for 24 sq feet. So later on down the road if you want to make it larger you can. I had the same problem as you...trying to workout on hardwood floors. It was killing me!! To be honest I just stumbled across it. In my local store it was in a box near the threadmills etc.

    Good Luck!

Try a shop where they sell camping gear, ie tents, groundsheets etc. They should also have firm, foam-type mats that would go under sleeping bags. Those are quite good for using as exercise mats :)

I actually tried one of those already, but the one I have is to slippery... I slide all over the place, even when I keep my feet on the floor. Great thought though!

Thanks everyone for the advice and quick responses... Guess I'm headed to Wal Mart. Needed a few groceries anyway :-)
