edited December 2024 in Introduce Yourself
I'm Denise and this is my first day here. I'm 57 years old and have at least 57 pounds to lose. I am seeing a dietician and following the program. I'm on a 1500 calorie intake diet. I've lost 11 lbs since Feb. 16th. Today I introduced exercise to my program. I don't like to exercise. I would prefer to walk outside but the temps dropped to 35 today and the wind is whipping around like a crazy dragon, so I made myself get on the treadmill. Although I hated every minute of it, I finished it by talking on my cell phone. I'm glad to see the message board and eager to read everyones post. Hard work is the only way we will get there so good luck and keep your faith.

Hi Denise, I am Julie and 31. I hate excerise too. In fact, I avoiding it right now by reading the chat board. Ugh. I am going to send you a friend request. We can help support each other if you would like to accept. Good luck on your journey!

Welcome Denise! We had a big temp drop here today too.

I record tv shows that are big guilty pleasures for me and watch them while on the treadmill. I can FF through the commercials too so I don't get bored. I was able to read on my nook while I was on the treadmill too. So if you are a reader, that's a good option. Upbeat music can keep you going too plus you can use an iPod to walk outside too.

I hate exercise too and I go for variety when I can. Join your local Y... even my Mom in her 60's did aerobics. A lot of times she just sort of walked in place and watched everyone else but she loved having people around her. They adored her there. Find a friend to go on daily walks with.... meet up at a mall to walk and then have coffee. Or just add to every day task.... when I go to the mall I walk the whole thing once before I stop in any of the stores. I park further away from the grocery store and I go up and down each aisle whether I need something on that aisle or not.

Get a pedometer so you can see how much you move on top of any exercise. Make a goal to get in so many steps a day or burn a certain number of calories a day. As you lose weight you will find you want to do more or challenge yourself to do more.

Figure out how to incorporate something you like into exercise. I have wanted a dog for a long time and when we finally had an opportunity to get one last year, I knew I had my first motivation to move more. That started this for me and now I'm trying to take it to the next level.

good luck, I hope you find something that works for you!
