10lbs to go, slightly losing the will to carry on!

I've been on MFP for a couple of months, although for a while just used it to check calories of what I was eating rather than logging everything.

Once I started logging I had a few good weeks where I logged everything and lost about 5 lbs (I'd already lost about a stone before starting on MFP as well), all going great, until I had a weekend away a couple of weeks back, gained a couple of lbs again and now I can't seem to get back on track!

I've had a handful of days where I haven't bothered logging because I know I'm so far over my calorie allowance, and I really need someone to motivate me and get me sticking to my goals again.

I've only got 10lbs or so left to lose (and I may stop at only 7 or 8 lbs, depending on how I feel fitness and figure wise at that stage), so weight loss is REALLY slow and tiresome for me now. I've noticed such a change in my figure and how I feel since getting fitter (using various Jillian Michaels DVDs for the most part) and slimmer, but I just can't seem to keep the motivation up for this last push.

I'm getting the impression that you're at the stage where you've figured 'well I look a lot better than I did before. I'm fairly happy with the way I am now, do I really need to bother trying anymore....'
At the same time you realise that you will look even better if you lose another 7 to 10 lbs but it's getting to the stage where the (amount of effort required > your desire to lose any any more).

    A few suggestions therefore.
    1. Stop trying to push. Just make sure you come in under or at least not far above your maintenance calories. Perhaps you can still get a very gradual weight loss. That'd be better than nothing and might be more sustainable anyway.
    2. Change it up:- Exercise more - do different exercises - something new, something different.
    3. look for new interesting healthy foods.
    4. If it seems like a never ending struggle - give yourself time frames to do things in. Maybe in the weeks, months leading up to a holiday you target to lose some body fat and get shaped up, but while on holiday then you can relax and leave your hair down a bit!

Just a few suggestions for you there. Best of luck anyway!
  • You're exactly right! I look so much better than I did, that it's hard to imagine that the last few lbs will make much difference (which I know full well they will, as I have been that slim before and I am soooo much happier at that weight). Thanks for the great ideas - I think finding a new exercise challenge would work really well for me -although I mix up my exercise DVDs, maybe it's time to think about a running challenge or something.
