Hair/shampoo issues related to exercise...

I'm wondering if any of you have this problem. Now that I'm exercising daily (and sweating like a pig in the process!), I have to wash my hair every day. I used to be an every other day kind of girl...and I've used Wen for as long as I can remember. Well, all this washing is making my hair so incredibly dry. Even Wen isn't working anymore. I can't deal with it. I'm not a big over-the-counter hair product person, but would try something if it worked. I also prefer to use sulfate-free products...but again, it's not a REAL necessity. I should also add that I have medium to long hair with long layers and it's naturally wavy (not tight curls).

What do you guys use to keep your hair healthy?

I appreciate suggestions.

sorry but I have always been a 1x per day and sometimes a 2x per day based on exercise and don't notice anything.

I use an olive oil and egg mask once a week. Just mix two or three eggs with 5 tbsp of olive oil, heat for ten seconds so it warms up, mix, and apply to your hair. I leave it in for as long as I can stand.

And for shampoo I love DevaCurl No-Poo Cleanser. For conditioner, I love Nexxus.

Honestly, you don't need to wash your hair every day... That little bit of oil and sweat, is actually going to help.

If you feel like you need to though, Wash your hair like you normally would then the next day just rinse and re-style.. it will save you time and save your hair.

Use a shampoo for dry hair and only apply to the scalp. Let what runs down thru your hair when you rinse clean the rest to avoid stripping then ends of oils. Concentrate the conditioner mostly on the ends and work it up your hair, only applying lightly at most to the hair near the scalp. Use whatever brand you like, as long as the shampoo is for dry hair. Personally, my favorite is the Dove line of shampoos and conditioners. They're fairly cheap, work well, and don't leave a build up. If your ends are still dry after doing this, try a serum like biosilk and apply while your hair is still damp before you style.

HA! I don't think the Generals and Major Generals here at the Department of Defense would appreciate it if I didn't wash my hair every day! LOL...it becomes quite a bit of an eye sore! I will try just rinsing every other day but I'm not optimistic. Water dries it out so much...and I never use a hair dryer. I let it dry naturally. Ugh...I have problem hair now. <sigh>

I will definitely try this mask. The protein and oil mixture sounds like a HUGE help! Thanks!

It's not the water drying it out.. It's the fact that you are washing it everyday.

Try putting in a leave in conditioner or some sort of keratin treatment and see what happens.. but I really think that not washing it everyday will help.
