Steel Cut Oatmeal = Magic Food

Magic Food = Steel Cut Oatmeal.

This is much different from normal "Rolled Oat" oatmeal. It doesn't get nearly as gummy or pastey. It takes 20 minutes to cook. It stays with a pleasant chewy texture (not pastey).

Each morning I eat this with 1/4 cup of wild blueberries and 1 Splenda packet. (I plan to wean myself off Splenda too eventually).....and I honestly believe (along with eating NO Wheat or Dairy), this has been the secret to my success.

Doing this diligently each morning, I am not the slightest bit hungry until noonish, and even then, I am able to have a small healthy lunch....and then in the evening, have a protein and vegetables dinner with 1/4 cup of brown rice every second day.

In the past, I used to grab a coffee on the way out the door....and then ate crap at lunch and then binged at dinner.

But Steel Cut Oatmeal is the key.

21 days so far. I've lost 16 pounds.

I cook mine in a crockpot overnight with raisins, diced apples, vanilla extract and cinnamon. It is delicious and I agree it is very filling for hours.

Been eating steel cut for years. Can't stand the other stuff!

@veerobillard: Try stevia instead of splenda. Stevia is a great way to sweeten naturally.

I started doing the overnight crockpot thing a few weeks ago with steel cut and I love it! Put the leftovers in the fridge pre-portioned out and pop it in the microwave the next day! I add a tablespoon of jam or preserves and mix it in in lieu of any other sweetener. Orange Marmalade is quite yummy, so is blueberry.
