Check out this video of the race. The obstacles don't look too challenging. I'm going to do the Baltimore one (I'm from VA). Definitely coolrunning.com to get ready for a 5K.0 -
I ran the zombie 5k a few weeks ago in Atlanta and it was Awesome! My profile pic is me running towards the finish line. You can always go to Atlanta next year. It is a lot closer than Baltimore!0

That sounds so fun! I love anything zombie related! My bf and I even have a zombie survival plan...hey, it could happen!0

I just found out it's coming to Seattle (well, WA anyway)! I'm signing up today! So fun!0 -
Hahaha! I'm not too into Zombies... but that looks like fun...
This is the one that I'm doing http://5kfoamfest.com/ later this year... and I'm curious as to how to train for the obstacles.
THAT LOOKS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!! They need to come to the Midwest. :drinker:0 -
I wish it was coming to Northern NJ!! I want to do this so bad.0
-
Ahh! That looks so exciting! Totally signing up0
-
If I still lived in NJ then I would, but now I'm out in Iowa so maybe I'll do the St. Louis one. Thanks for promoting this or I would never of heard about it. It's like doing the Warrior Dash during a zombie apocalypse!0

I'm from Maryland and my boyfriend participated in this run! He loved it, he did no preparations and he was no fit in the least bit! It looked really fun and I might sign up for the next one! See ya there!!0

Question: Are they the George Romero slow moving, stumbling, un-coordinated zombies... or the 28 Days Later fast running, quick, and aggressive zombies?
Either way I am in. Just curious if it is a 5k jog or 5k sprint with my arms over my head screaming.....
Pittsburgh on Labor Day weekend.
Thank you to the OP, this is really cool.0 -

They actually have both types of zombies. You are more jogging until you see a zombie, then booking *kitten* to get away from them, back and forth.0 -
I am even more excited about this event after seeing all of the enthusiastic comments! Anyone who plans to do the Baltimore run, feel free to friend me, we can help keep each other excited! Maybe even meet up for a drink after the race! :bigsmile:0

Thanks for the tip! I downloaded an "ease into 5k" android app yesterday and have every intention to try it this evening after work. I hope that will get me ready! I have also signed up for a mud run in June, so I will have an idea of what to expect for this!0 -
I so want to do this, but I'm looking at 2013. Not ready yet.0

I am doing San Diego (Temecula) in October. I am running the race inthe first wave then doing a zombie shift later in the day. Converted by choice! lol Your undead loving friends who are not into fitness could maybe sign up as stumbler zombies?
The C25K and similar series are the best for getting to a distance But remember - it can be up to a 10k course because there are multiple routes to choose from, so consider at least pushing up to that distance by game day. Dead legs = zombie food! ; ) As for other training it's all about manipulating your body weight so focus exercises that help that ( push ups, pullups, climbing, crawling, and grip strength). A good bootcamp or circuit training class will help your body learn to change gears effectively. Honeslty, when I train for these type events I find the most fun is to go to a park where I can run and climb around on/over/through various 'obstacles'.
Thanks for the tips! I do not want to be Zombie food!!
Speaking of circuit training, any ideas on apps or websites that I could get ideas for a circuit training routine. I used to work out with a trainer and we used the Nike one on her I-pod. Loved it! I don't have an I-pod and am looking for either an android app or something I can print online to take to the gym with me. Thanks in advance!0 -
I would totally do it if I didn't have an event at the Museum that day
In any case i would like to be able to knock out a 5K by then. We need to encourage one another! Maybe we can sign up for a regular 5k sometime in between for training
I happen to know of a Mud run in June that I have signed up for. I think you can sign up until May. I just downloaded a 5k running app, maybe the next time you're in town we can go for a run! I'm always looking for people to work out with! Let me know how the zombie running game app is, I definitely want to try that out!0 -
I'm doing Pittsburgh in September.
It's fun, just a 5K obstacle race with some folks in costume chasing you. My ex did the Baltimore one last year. You get 3 flags and the zombies try to snag them off you. Run in a crowd if you can. The zombies tend to pick off people running alone.
I'm so excited for this I can't stand it!
Meee tooooo!! Thanks for the helpful hint!0 -
I need one of these in S. Florida. I'm so jealous.
Love your ticker! Cute!0 -
Unfortunately the one in CA is full on zombie volunteers. I would love to be in makeup, scaring runners!0
-
I'm going to do this 5K because it just looks like fun. I think it's a great idea to have a group of people to run the race with.. Work outside Baltimore, but never get to go explore it much.. Let me know if you find more people.. I'll try to get my friends interested.
YES! Get friends interested and hit me up! I'm having a hard time finding people to go, but I won't give up!0 -
I just signed up for the 9:30 wave in Baltimore. I figure it's a 1.5h drive from my home....0
-
Just signed up for two races in the last 2 days- warrior dash (may) and tough mudder (sept.) This looks like fun, so I'm thinking yes...Thanks for the heads-up!
I've heard stories about the warrior dash! I signed up for the Mud run that the Marines put on in June. Definitely excited, but also nervous. I've never done anything like it before!0 -
