Too much Protein bad?

I am not sure about the rest of you but when I eat foods low in fat and carbs, I end up with foods high in protein. I always seem to over my Protein level in MFP but below the carb and fat levels. I just figured with all the low carb and low fat diets, it can't be that bad of an approach. Is too much protein going to keep me from loosing weight or have some other health side effect?

If you are using the goals the MFP automatically set when you made your account, they are low to begin with so I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, it will help you lose weight as it will help you to stay fuller longer. Good luck!!

Personally, I go way over my protein level because I focus heavily on strength training. I try to eat a gram of protein per pound I weight, which I rarely ever reach that goal. I usually eat 120-150 grams of protein a day.
Just make sure you drink lots of water.

I did high (very) protein for a week and ended up with kidney stones! My best advice is what this person said above, DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER. That's what my doctor recommended.0 -
Thanks everyone for the advice. I have been drinking tons of water. The only reason I can see that I have high protein is because I am a big meat eater. Typically I find that meat and vegetables keep my calories, fat and carbs in the right range so that is mostly what I eat. Thanks to all for the help.0

The only restriction on protein I have seen is a max of 50 grams/meal..the thinking on it is that the body cannot deal with over 50 grams at a time..the body will just transport and ignore the surplus..I don't know how valid that theory is..As to max protein/ # of BW, some people consume 2 grams/#, or more ,so you probably do not need to worry about it..The mdr is 1 gram /kg of BW, or .5 grams/#..0

Definitely what everyone else said, lots, and lots of water! Having to much protein dehydrates you, and can lead to kidney problems.0
