Hey there,
I am actually re-starting the SBD today. I have done it a couple times before and have gotten great results. I lost about 12 lbs in the first 2 weeks (phase 1)! My downfall though, was reintroducing carbs in phase 2. It just brought me back to my old ways over time. Now that I have been maintaining a more healthy lifestyle in general, I want to restart it. It is a great way to jump start weight loss because phase 1 cuts out all sugars, starches, and grains. If you are able (or, a freak like me and LIKE) to stick with a strict plan, I'd definitely say give it a go. It is great especially if you are the type to eat the same kind of stuff on most days. I usually do a little veggie omelet (or some hard boiled eggs and a veggie) for breakfast, a tomato and cheese stick for morning snack, a salad with chicken/tuna/steak/eggs for lunch, walnuts or pistachios in the afternoon, and some kind of meat with a side for dinner. Feel free to add me for some support!! :-D0 -
I think the Pritkin diet is a better plan. Lots of whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables. I find following a good plan is a lot easier with a good rice maker. You can cook whole grains (cereals), legumes easily with one.0

I have done SBD in the past and lost 18 lbs during Phase 1. I maintained my weight loss for about 9 months but then started eating unhealthy again and slowly gained the weight back. I have decided to start back on SBD today. I'm hoping to get the same results as I did in the past.0

I personally don't like this diet. The first 2 weeks is extremely difficult without any carbs and once you begin to incorporate them back into your eating you will gain weight. I had a friend who lost about 30 pounds on it and has gained all of that + back.0

I just started the South Beach Diet last week. Personally, I love it! It is really strict during phase 1, but I haven't felt deprived. I actually eat more than I normally would because of the snacks. The recipes are really easy to follow and I've even been able to eat out a couple times without breaking the diet. If you like chocolate I definitely suggest getting some sugar-free fudgesicles to have for desert. I always look forward to those. I am a pasta fanatic too, but the cravings began to go away after the first couple of days. My mom started it last year and has kept all the weight off. It may not work for everyone, but I really like the structure.0

I love SBD and lost most of my 60 pounds following their plan.
It can easily be broken down like this:
Unlimited vegetables
Unlimited protein (be reasonable though)
up to 3 fruits
up to 3 whole grains
2-3 dairy
Honestly, it's a very healthy diet.0
