Plateaus

I'm sure it is different depending on body type and the individual (ie. how much weight you are looking to lose), but I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to when people typically hit plateaus? I'm down 10 lbs but I really would like to lose a total of 80 lbs. Does anyone think I'll hit a wall soon? How do you overcome this plateau?
