Trousers and Jeans rant (UK related)

I've got a pretty narrow waist compared to the average guy now. My hips measurement isn't very wide either. But I do have quite muscular legs. For some reason, only own branded jeans from Asda and Tesco appear to fit me, as well as very expensive branded ones. But anything in the middle cost section, as well as Chinos ... etc. Just doesn't seem to be cut for my shape. Why do the designers presume that a small waist automatically means skinny (quite ugly imho) legs?

Arrrgh!

    Try being short!!!

Most short-legged trousers are like 36" legs cut down, so they always look baggy. M&S do a better fitting jean (plus they do 1% Lycra jeans) in a short leg, but I used to find it impossible to get a short-legged Levi, especially in a large waist. And Levis and the like think that anyone with a 36" or larger is tall and long legged.

Generally, the British fashion industry only seem to make clothes for an ideal body size that doesn't really exist.

Have you tried somewhere like High & Mighty? I'm guessing though that they'll probably only have branded lines which means paying a higher price.

It is a pain, sigh... No, High and Mighty don't really cater for me at all. I'm to thin for them and not tall enough. Hehe

I'm with you on the legs thing. I'm currently wearing size 14 jeans, trying to get to a 12 some time soon ideally. I carry a majority of my weight in my thighs. I think I'm a size 10 around the waist now, but I'm still struggling to get into a 12 because of my legs. This means I'm having to fold my jeans over at the waist to make them fit.

I'm aware I'm short and out of proportion, but argh!
  • Welcome to my life!!

I'm crazy tall and to get pants with long enough legs, i have to get bigger sizes. Doesn't help that i've got muscular quads. Finding pants that fit is murder lol. I guess the only advice I have for you is to just buy the sizes that fit your legs, and have them tailored to fit your waist. At least until designers get wise and make pants in more sizes!!

In the US, Carson Piere Scott has a brand called Rafaella, which offers women the choice of style. Some have more narrow waist with more hip room, some have wider waists with more narrow thighs... I love that brand!
