getting started... weekends are a challenge / gadgets

I'm finally getting serious about losing this extra weight that I've been carrying off and on for the last 15 years, and it's a bit overwhelming. I like MFP because of the way it calculates cals/deficit and it has a huge list of foods! I'm down 10 pounds so far, but I still have 45 to go and it seems like it'll take forever. I have a pretty good food routine during the week while I'm at work, but I keep getting derailed on weekends. I can lose 2-3 pounds in a week and then gain back 1-2 in a weekend. I just seem to have a hard time getting under control when I'm not at a desk all day and when I'm spending more time with family & friends - eating out and being busy. Any suggestions for finding the motivation or self control on weekends?! Also, another question that I'm wondering about... are any of the gadgets / weight loss helpers worth the cost? Armfit band or heart rate monitor or food scales or dvd programs? Thanks for the help!

  • I have, for years, suffered the same weekend issue as you are! What I have very recently realized, is that if I set myself up for success Friday evening, I do much better. I stock the kitchen with plenty of fruits and vegetables and use them to "pig out" on during the weekend. Plan your meals and stick to them! If I can do it, anyone can! Good luck!
