My biggest issue is the exercise part of weight loss. I have been very good about keeping my calories under my daily limit. I find when it comes to the exercise part I have difficulty wanting to do it. I think the fact that it's cold still is a big turn off. I also don't really know how I should start exercising. Should I just go for daily walks/power walks? should I do intervals of jogging? I did find that when I tried intervals of jogging my lungs felt inflamed and breathing was difficult...almost like I was having asthmatic symptoms. (I don't have asthma normally but when I do jog my lungs hurt for hours after and it's difficult to take a full breath.)

  • Start with walking at a pace that feels comfortable for you for about 30 mins. each day then work your way up to a faster pace.

The trick is finding activities that you enjoy and are likely to stick with but be a little adventurous, you may find that you enjoy something that had never occurred to you (the reason I say this is that I started running a few years ago because I had decided to start playing soccer again after a 30 year break, suffice it to say 5 minute on the pitch & I thought I was going to croak so I started running because I knew it was "good" for me - my lungs burned, my muscles ached, I felt like a total idiot with my stomach hanging over my track pants - but I persevered and, surprisingly, grew (or should I say, shrank) to love running).

Try some different activities - you may just surprise yourself.
