HRM users: Target heart rate zone

I recently got a Polar FT4 but I find that with the generic settings I hardly ever fall within my target heart rate zone while exercising. For example when I run at a comfortable pace I am above my target heart rate zone. What do you have your heart rate zone set to? The "out of the box" setting is 65-85%. Is that too low?
TIA

I use this website and plug the numbers in to my watch. They still aren't quite right (I have a very high lactate threshold) but close enough. You have to know your resting HR to use the website (and knowing your maximum makes it even more accurate).

Cool! Thanks. It's pretty close to what I programmed my HRM to based on my experience since I started using it. Thanks again!

Since I have a low resting and very high max heart rate, I used an online calculator and picked which zone I want to be training in. When the HRM decides it's usually way too low. So I use my own setting.
