Ergometer - Reebok Crosstrainer

Hi there, we have a sort of mini gym in our summer house. I mainly use our Concept2 rowing machine and can burn loads of calories on it. We also have a Reebok REI Crosstrainer but I don't like using it because although tiring, the it says I have burned are very low. For instance 10 mins on the rower equals approx 10 calories (I use the Concept2 calorie calculator which is probably more accurate than MFP or my rower) and after 10 min on the Crosstrainer it says about 1 calorie!!! It shows my heart rate which I keep around 150 and like I said it's tiring and I do sweat. Do we think the counter on the cross trainer is wrong? It really puts me off using it.

Just wondering if anyone else has this crosstrainer or has this problem?

Thanks
Debbie x

    Hi Debbie,
The calories on machines aren't always accurate, especially if you are not putting in your weight age etc. it would be better to invest in an HRM if you want to be accurate. I find Mfp isn't accurate on some things either. I wear my hrm on my daily walk and burn 100 more cals than Mfp calculates. You should be burning more than 1cal after 10 mins though!

I do use a HRM monitor so when I use the rower I know how many calories I have burned. The Eg has a built in monitor and I was keeping my HR at 140 but still it said a low amount of calories. Weird. Thanks for replying though :)
