When I earn additional calories from exercise, am I to eat those or just feel happy I earned the burn? When I don't eat all the calories after my allotted ones then I get a nice message telling me how much I should weigh in 5 weeks, but when I do eat them there is no message. Perhaps the answer is in the question but I want to do this right. Thanks

    You can or cannot eat back the calories. I think if you feel hungry...maybe grab some fruit and a little more water...see how ya feel. That is all you may need:)

    if you are using MFP set up as default - with telling it how much you want to loose and it gives you cal intake according to that: THEN EAT THEM ;)

    if you have MFP set up somehow special, then depends on what you set it up as.

    Depending on your weight and goal you should be aiming for 250-1000 cal deficit (TDEE - food = deficit). Eating at least enough to fuel yourself (BMR, or according to some 1200 cal). Normally if you eat your BMR, the normal daily stuff creates a deficit so you will loose weight, then if you exercise you loose faster but if you are exercising allot then it is a good idea to eat the calories back at least some of them.

    The math:
    BMR you find in Tools > BMR. This is what you need to stay fueled while sleeping all day.
    BMR*0.2 or even higher : the "normal daily stuff", this is where you choose from 3 categories when you set up MFP.
    TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure.

    TDEE = BMR + BMR*0.2 + exercise

    Deficit = TDEE - calories from food.

    again, depending on your size and goals you want the deficit to be 250-1000.

    hope this helps abit.

    Also, there are much much better threads that you can find using the search function.
