Do People Say You Don't Need to Lose Weight?

The strangest thing has been happening ever since I started to lose weight: almost everyone I talk to says "you don't need to lose weight." I started at 155 lbs and have a BMI of overweight, so getting in shape and finally trying to take off the baby weight should be a good thing. Are people trying to be nice for when I inevitably fail, is society finally accepting slightly overweight people or are they just being polite by saying I am fine they way I am? Is anyone else getting this type of feedback?
