Introduction...

Hello everyone,

I'm 49... and finally realized I'm not getting any younger as aches and pains of having TOO much for my skeleton to carry - have finally brought me to the final straw.

I've joined today. I was using Noom - but someone posted about MFP and I must say, it's a great deal better. I got back on eating right Jan. 20th... weighing 210 - today, I weighed in and logged my weight at 188 here. So... so far, 22lbs. I still have 56 to go. :ohwell:

I'm sure not many are going the route I've chosen, but healthwise, it's the best way. I did this when I was in my early 30's and lost weight rapidly... however... this time around, due to menopause, it's not coming off as fast as back then. Doesn't matter, back then, I went on a "Diet" - this time around, I'm not dieting. I'm doing a LIFESTYLE change for good! No more going back to slow poisons and rubbish food.

My way is a simple one - one that will carry me into good health for the rest of my life... well, what's left of it. I'm not hungry, I'm not irritable, I'm not craving.

What I eat...

Supplement: Vibe... by Eniva
Food: Healthy fats... coconut oil - butter - animal fat - olive oil
Beef - marbled with fat, Lamb w/fat trim - Salmon - Goose - Duck - Chicken - Eggs - Liver - Pork -(Once a month)
Avocados - Pecans - Walnuts - Brazil nuts - Almonds
Kale - Spinach - Greens of every type - Broccoli - Green leaf of cabbage
Garlic, Onions, Red, Yellow, Orange and Green bell pepper, Cilantro herbs
Full fat - Greek Yogurt - Real cheeses
Blueberries, Black berries, Strawberries, an occasional orange, dark plums, Kiwi fruit

That's it... nothing else. I'm full - energy like crazy, clear thinking, happy - laughing and MOVING! I don't count calories at all - however, I'm struggling to eat more... because the fat - which serves to energize me, is a strong appetite suppressant, so it's difficult to eat more. Thus, I'm not meeting my calorie allowance - but up until I joined here, I wasn't counting them. Soooo, oh well. The weight is coming off... I don't hurt so much anymore. My focus and concentration has returned. My nails are growing like crazy as well my hair - which had been thinning... I pray it grows back to full thickness -(it's an age and menopause thing for some I know).

My husband is on the exact same way of eating... he was diabetic... since the change in our lifestyle - his glucose is now consistently normal... and he's lost ALL there was for him to loose. I'm so jealous! He lost 3 and a half stone -(49lbs). He looks great, feels great... and is backing off of his meds as his blood pressure has dropped to normal and now, he's focusing on his cholesterol. He started Jan. 20th as well... *sigh*

Anyone else here on this type of lifestyle change?

Anyway... just wanted to introduce me...

So proud of you guys and very impressed. I just started today at 220lb after going all the way to 210 but since all the stress of the move came at me at once...I guess I just forget NOT to eat so much LOL
I really want to start toward what you guys are doing and I would love to say the weight is dropping off one day soon.

I would love to be under 200 again because I never thought I would see that ugly number. I was 250 by the time I had my little one and that was 5 years ago but with all the health complications my body does not want to bounce back like the first time. I tell my body,I say "Body, what is going on with you? Why don't you want to be sexy and curvy anymore? Remeber how good you looked in jeans and skirts?" But my body just gives me that look...you know the one, and walks away eating a Fiber One brownie.

I know if my husband went on any time of food changes he would drop weight like crazy and I would feel all kinds of jealous but maybe that would motivate me. I never wanted to look like George and Weezy. Thank Goodness he is taller than me and broad shouldered so I have some time. I really want to get back to a healthy weight.

We will beat back the weight and wear matching leather short skirts and fake tattoos! umm o.k. maybe not leather, it can get kinda uncomfortable.

Joy, you always... ALWAYS bring a smile to my face! LOL... you can do it. Vibe... that is important... FAT is extremely important! I'm going to be writing a blog about the "Big FAT lie!" - it's a shame how many people are eating "Low fat" foods... believing they are eating healthy, when nothing is further from the truth. FAT - as long as it's not delivered in vegetable oil, margarine and all the other man-made slow poisonous concoctions is GOOD for you.

Butter... coconut oil... olive oil... animal fat -(lard)... All good!

Flour, grains, sugar, pastas, artificial anything... ALL BAD! Processed foods... ALL BAD.

Remember that - want something sweet? Eat REAL fresh FRUIT... or... just BE sweet... that always comes off better than anything you put in your mouth.

God's made food... ALWAYS good for you.

Man-made processed slow poisons ... called food... BAD!!!

So when you open your mouth to put something in it... ask yourself before you commit by putting it in, chewing it and swallowing - man-made crap? Or God made... good?

If it came out of a box, plastic bag, with a date that it's good all year and into next... do you REALLY wanna eat that? THINK!

REAL food is perishable! MUST be eaten within a few days... must be refrigerated or frozen to last. Doesn't come in a can or box...

    FRESH is the key...
