I am very pale, and i hate fake tan! However i am looking to meet in the middle and buy a lotion that gradually darkens...

Any suggestions for this? Include prices and stuff please :) (I live in the UK)

Have you tried a spray on tan from a tanning salon? Or is that what you meant by fake tan?

I have a few friends who have gotten the spray on (professionally done at a tanning salon) and it doesn't look fake or orange.

Thats what im trying to avoid :) id like to do a DIY one rather than have to go somewhere to have it done for me :)
I did come across palmers coacoa butter with a gradual tan, this seems a good idea. Similar things to this :)

Pale is the new tan . . .

and ink looks so much more AMAZING on lily white skin than it does on shoe leather :)

I like the "Banana Boat" brand spray on tan. It is gradual -- I usually do it every morning for 3 or 4 days until I get to the color I want. I pay about 7 dollars for it here in the US. I'm sorry, I have no idea what it is in the UK.

I use Palmer's cocoa butter lotion every single day. I love it. Never tried the one with a gradual tan though. Didn't know it existed, but maybe I'll give it a try. Palmer's is by far my favorite lotion.

Duplicity by Australian Gold - it's a maintenance lotion as well as an indoor tanning lotion.

Le Tan gradual tanning is awesome but I don't know if you would get it anywhere other than NZ/Australia

Garnier summerbody works for me. I usually tan in a tanning booth but back in the day I used this and if you apply it with care and moisturize extra, you;re good to go. Its cheap (about 4 pounds a big bottle) and it also smells good (compared to other tanning lotions but under the peachy smell there's still some amount of bronzing smell that lingers).

I am pale too... my absolute favorite is the Lavera sunless tanning lotion $27.50 USD but it's expensive - especially as here in Texas I use tanner almost year round. But I love the color and I love that the formula is natural and moisturizing. My go to is L'Oreal sublime bronze with SPF because my doc demands I wear sunscreen DAILY. I also like their tanner with bronzer bc I can see what I'm doing. $8-$10 USD And I like the gradual tanners that Jergen's has. Jergen's Natural Glow about $8. They have one for light skin that I use as my 'starter' then I go darker if I want to. I have not been too happy with the spray types as they are too messy.

Oh and you didn't ask but use latex or plastic gloves when you apply it and you can avoid tan palms....do a scrub before applying the first time, go easy on the knees and ankles.
