What are some good soft foods?

I had a frenectomy this morning, where basically cut open my gum and scraped out a muscle between my two front teeth that was causing my gap. Now there is stitches there and for the next couple days I can only eat soft foods. I'm going shopping in a bit and need a few ideas about good "soft" food snacks because right now the only things I have are ice cream and bananas.

Im already getting loads of apple sauce but are there any other ideas?

    Ok, ouch...

Greek yogourt for your protein and calcium.

    Scrambled eggs.

    Love me some pudding cups.

Canned pasta. Tastes like crap, full of salt, but hey, very mushy.

    Mushy peas.

    Mashed potatoes.

I had a similiar surgery many many years ago and I found banana's too hard.. I would get some protein shakes to keep your diet balanced. Eggs were good. Oatmeal worked. Pasta like ancini de pepi or orzo..

When coming off a liquid diet, alot of Docs will suggest a BRAT Diet. Bananas, Rice, Apple Sauce, Toast

I'm in the same boat with you - I had 4 teeth extracted for my braces and I was already missing 2 molars. Until the spaces close which won't be for a few months, chewing hard food is not an option. I'm drinking protein shakes, fresh veggie/fruit juice (I have a juicer). For dinner, I usually have rice/potatoes and salmon or turkey patties. Lucky for you it will only be a few days :)

Smoothies--yogurt, and/or apple juice, banana, blueberries, protein powder, etc. Be creative. Kefir--can also be used in a smoothie. Make oatmeal with extra milk. When I lived in Costa Rica, their version of oatmeal was more like an oatmeal soup. Also, tomato soup has also always been a comfort food for me. Imagine makes a good lower sodium version. Good luck!

I had a terrible sore throat for a couple of weeks. Trying to remember what I lived on...

Lots of protein powder shakes. Yogurt. Jello. Broth. Laughing cow cheese. Cauliflower, if you steam or boil it 'til it's really mushy and then melt some cheese on it. Emergen-C or similar vitamin-packed drink mixes.

    Good luck!

Try making smoothies or soups. You can make your own and then blend them so they are a smooth consistency.

When I had my wisdom teeth out last year, I made a big batch of this soup:
    http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/edamame-soup-recipe.html

Minus any crunchy toppings, of course :) It was delicious and really kept me full for the couple of days I wasn't allowed to chew anything. My mom made me a bunch of smoothies too, but sometimes I just wanted something warm instead of cold and savory instead of sweet.

Hope you're feeling better soon :)

Not a "diet" food, but since you can't chew normally, you might want the extra calories. Mashed potatoes with Cheez Whiz was my go-to food after getting my wisdom teeth out.

Mix some greek yogurt in for extra creaminess and protein.
