Google Oral Allergy Syndrome. That is what I have and I can't eat most fruit... and it sucks...
I have the same thing, but I eat fruit anyway. After about a year, the allergy has seem to improved. Certain fruits are worse than others, but I rarely get blisters from fruits anymore as long as they are really ripe when I eat them. Under ripe at all and I have an issue. My dr. told me it was okay to eat them as long as I wasn't having any regular allergy symptoms also to avoid anaphylaxis.0 -
I'm not "allergic" to them, but they give me HORRIBLE heartburn!0

I think I have an intolerance to bananas as well. It's pretty mild most of the time. I feel nauseous, but there have been sometimes I actually will throw up. I used to eat them anyways since I didn't know for sure that's what it was even though I suspected it, but I decided recently to no longer eat them. I haven't had a problem since.0

I have developed an allergy to pineapple and am also allergic to rag weed .My throat started closing and I got huge painful welts across my face .I asked allergist and he told me the protein in raw pineapple is similar to ragweed but if I cooked pineapple it would change the protein and I should be ok to eat it then. I have eaten cooked pineapple with zero reaction .Of course raw pineapple was my favorite fruit. Yes I do agree to take food allergy serious as it can be bad.0

I've had a banana allergy since I was 9 years old. We found out the hard way when I went into anaphylactic shock. My throat swelled up & closed off. I became violently ill. Since the reaction was so severe, my doctor called the closest pharmacy & asked them to rush over Atarax to help relieve the symptoms. The fear was that by the time EMS got to our house & transported me to the hospital, I would've died. So, to me, bananas are deadly. Pay very close attention to your body. If you have any odd symptoms/adverse reactions after eating a food, be sure to consult your physician. I've also been told that if you crave a food, there's a possibility you may have an allergy to that food.0

Wow I never knew of these connections. I discovered I had an intolerance to bananas when I was about 21. Previously ate them without a problem, but while in college I found I got horrible pains in my stomach from them. I've also had a life-long problem of heartburn from tomato sauce, but not raw tomatoes, and nausea from citrus fruits, but I believe that's an unrelated issue. Flash forward a few decades and since I've been over 50, I seem to have to add a new intolerance every few years (such as eggs/nausea and walnuts/tongue cankers) Yet I used to eat eggs and bananas and walnuts with no problem when I was young.
Some of the other things mentioned here, as related, interest me because I'm looking for a pattern. Though bananas have been a problem for a long time, I only recently found similar problems with strawberries and pineapples. Also, I have a mild latex allergy. No breathing problem, just raised white welts that are itchy from some bra bands. During recovery from surgery last year, I discovered a similar allergy to the adhesive in most bandages used by the hospital and I got blisters.
I'm someone who has always considered herself to be not a picky eater -- in that I like the taste of most everything, but these allergies and intolerances are getting me down. (Headaches from garlic, msg, and onion.)
Thanks all for your input!0
