How do you sort your closet?
We all have to deal with some clothing issues since we're working on reaching goal weight and fitness. I was wondering if any of you guys are doing something like this. So far, My closet is a mess but I am working on it bit by bit.
Top hanging bar everything I wear that can be put on a hanger within reason. Bottom bar Clothes I've shrunk out of (sadly not much on this side), empty hangers, goal clothes. Then I've got a set of drawers in the closet that is pretty simple top to bottom it's swimwear, corsets, workout clothes, bras, underwear, pajamas, socks, and more socks.
What I WANT to do is sort everything I still wear by size and work on weeding out the things that are oversized/too big to put down on the right side of the bottom bar. Seeing what I'm too small for is kinda motivating. And on a day where I feel a little bloated/big I can pick something from the larger sized section.
I really need to go through my socks and make that just one drawer. Then I'll have a place for my scarf collection.

I hang all like shirts together and sort them by color, darkest to lightest. Same with pants.

For dress shirts, I sort them by design and sub-sort by color. What works for me is:
- Sports Jerseys
- Patterned Shirts
- Plaids
- Ginghams
- Stripes
- Chambray
- Solids
- Polos
On the other side, I hang pants from most to least casual. Beyond that are five tie hangers [that hold eight ties each] that are organized by primary color, plus a sixth tie hanger for bow ties. My suits hang in bags beyond this.
On my closet's shelf are my towels, washcloths, sweaters, and tees [exclusively pastel color and white V-necks]. I think there is also a copy of Scrabble and Apples to Apples up there. On another shelf, I have three baskets: One for colored socks, one for dark socks, and one for undergarments. The floor of my closet has a trash can, a small filing cabinet, and art that people have given me that I would never hang in my own home*. My shoes are lined under the perimeter of my bed.
Is that specific enough?

* Seriously...art is the worst gift you can give someone. I wouldn't give my best friend in the world a piece of art because everyone has different tastes. So...stop it. Please.0 -
