About to order a HRM. Q about strap length/wrist size

Can anyone do me a favour and measure their Polar FT4 or FT7 HRM's wrist strap?

I'm about to order one on Amazon but really want to make sure it will fit because I'm so excited about using it ASAP and get some accurate calorie burn figures :-)

Come to think of it, I need to make sure the chest strap will fit too!

My wrist measures about 18.5cm and my at my bra strap, 90cm.

I wouldn't have been concerned only someone left feedback on the FT7 on the amazon UK site saying the strap length was 120mm!

While you're doing that :-) I need to see what the difference between the FT4 and FT7 is and if it's worth paying a bit more to get the FT7

Thanks in advance if you can spare a minute :flowerforyou:

    Polar FT4:
    Holds 10 workouts
    Tells calories burned
Tells you where your heart rate should be between
Shows min/max heart rate at end of session
    Comes in 3 colors

    Polar FT7:
    Holds 99 workouts
    Tells calories burned
Tells you if you are in the fat burning/fitness zone
Shows min/max heart rate at end of sessions
allows you to upload your data to the Polar Website via the optional flow link attachment
    Comes in 4 colors

As far as the strap goes(for the watch and the chest strap) I'm sure you'll be fine. The chest strap is made of elastic and it stretches.. and the watch strap on the FT7 is plenty long.
  • My female ft4 watch length is about 21 cm. It has 22 holes in the strap to get the best fit so I think you're safe there. There is also a male version of the watch, the face its just slightly bigger and I'm assuming the watch strap us longer. My bra band is 92 cm
And I have adjusted the chest strap with plenty of room in either direction, its very stretchy and adjustable.

ETA: the ft7 has the fat burn/fitness zones but you can find out online what your fat burn and fitness zones are and incorporate that into your workout with an ft4 (it's just about being in different areas of your hr zone), just fyi.

I bought the male version of the FT4 and the watch strap and chest strap both fit just fine. my bra band measures 86 cm around.

Also note that you have to buy something extra with the FT7 in order to get your data uploads.

I love my FT4 and it is perfect for telling me my calories burned - which is the main reason i wanted it.

I've just made my choice more complicated by being tempted by the FT40's fitness test ( it measures VO2max which helps get a more accurate calorie measure?)

I looked at the polarpersonaltrainer website and I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that you can upload your own data from your HRM by typing it all in if you don't want to buy the polarlink accessory. If it saves me £30 I'm happy to type it in since my computer is on every day  If this is the case then there doesn't seem any point in getting the FT7's capacity to store more workout data over the FT4's smaller capacity since I could look it all up on the polarpersonaltrainer website.

Well, I did it, I decided (that was hard work! LOL). I went for the FT7
I can always go for the FT40 or 60 in the future. I'll see how I get on with the FT7
    Thanks for the replies x
