Hi,

I'm taking part in Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work and would really appreciate your support. This is the second time I have done the race for life, however the first time I only did the 5k and walked it for the most part, this time I will be doing the 10k and hope to jog or run most of it!!!

I did my first Race for life back in 2007 when several people close to me where battling cancer. I had a skin cancer scare when I was 23, my aunt lost her battle after nearly 5 years battling breast cancer just before I did the RFL and my step-grandmother lost died shortly after. A close friend of the family was diagnosed around the same time and my grandfather has ongoing battles with different types of cancer, and after ten years of cancer in January he was given the all clear only to get a repeat bout a month later and now back on kemo treatments.

My motivation for doing it again and double the distance this time, is that firstly the people I would love to give a better chance and help the researchers eradicate the horrible thing, but most importantly for myself I think this is the motivation I need to start exercising and get myself fit and healthy! I don't know if I will manage to run or jog the full 10k as I hope to, but I will try my damn best to do it! I know one thing - I will complete it even if i end up crawling around the full 10k!

I am aiming to get at least £150, ambitious I know but must start as I mean to go on, and I am sure everyone reading this has had some personal experience of cancer at some point in your life - whether first hand or knowing someone or just a small scare that led to nothing.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to saving lives through research. If you are a UK taxpayer Gift Aid can increase the value of any charitable donation by at least 25% – at no additional cost to you.

So if you want to sponsor me you can donate online at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/bumble3bee or if you fancy facing the challenge for yourself why not join the biggest fight against cancer and take part in Race for Life: http://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/

Thanks and best wishes,
