So lost with what strength training is

I'm running 3 times a week. I've been doing 30 day shred almost everyday. When should I add in strength training so I'll also look toned at the end? I don't go to gym, what would I need (at minimal cost) to do it at home? Do any work outs count? Melt down yoga? I keep seeing it mentioned, but besides going to a gym and lifting weights, I just don't understand.
