Anyone tried a diet food delivery service?

Last year, before I started my diet I tried a place called personalcheftogo.com and it was great. The food came every week and it was all fresh, not frozen. But I stopped it for whatever reason, and now I would like to start one again, but a diet one. There are many out there and I was wondering if anyone tried any of them. They cost about the same as what I spend on groceries, and I hate all the dishes that pile up from eating clean. These places claim to not use crap in their food, etc, so it should be ok.

Anybody have any ideas on the best diet delivery place?

I know people that use "dietchef"

My problem with this though is what does it teach you? what stops you from putting the weight back on afterwards?

All I know about places like that is that they cost an arm and a leg and you can't know exactly what's in your food since it wasn't prepared yourself. I've never used such a company before. In all actuality they aren't teaching you how to make a lifestyle change and when you stop ordering their food, then what? What did you learn?

With that said I saw a groupon this morning about that type of service.

I agree, I feel I have learnt so much about eating right since my fast food days

^^ This is exactly why I'm not willing to spend the money. Sodium content is also a consideration...

I use the fresh diet (http://www.thefreshdiet.com/ ) from time to time and really like it. They deliver the food fresh every day except for weekends when they delivery both days on Friday. The portions are big enough to fill you up without being too much. You get three meals and two snacks. The food is delicious and is like what you would get in a nice restaurant, but costs less per day than a dinner at one. If you get the premium plan they give you four choices for every meal and there is usually a good selection (for example every day has a seafood and a vegetarian option) Lunch is the toughest as there are some days were all you get to choose from is four different finds of salads. You can also select things you dislike and the site will flag you if you pick something that has an ingredient you don't like.

My neighbors are doing Nutrisystem. They said it's expensive but he's down 60 lbs and she is down 20 lbs. They started out doing it 7 days a week and now do it 5. I think they're starting the transition to "normal food". She and I talked about it at length, and she had only good things to say. She said they both have a better understanding of appropriate portions and such.

They're on vacation right now, so it'll be normal food for a week or so. I'm curious how they do!

(When he popped over last night to drop off their housekeys, he told me he had no idea how much crap he used to eat until he stopped. I think if you're already tracking and eating mostly healthy, the impact will be less. That likely explains the difference in their weight loss.)

I saw what that food looks like. I would lose a ton of weight too, I would be broke from buying it and couldn't put that stuff in my mouth. Someone where I work had it and was trying to give it all away.

I tried FreshDiet and it was disgusting. The food was dried and shriveled, bland as could be and portions that wouldn't even fill up my cat. The food looked absolutely nothing like the pictures (no surprise there), but I thought it would look somewhat appetizing. After one bite of things, I threw the food away. The best part of it were the reusable containers!

I don't live in the UK, but dietchef looks pretty good. As far as teaching me to eat right, I sort of already know how, it's just a lot of work. I work full time and have a long commute plus gym very early before dawn, so I am tired at night. And too tired to be making lunches and dinners. So I find lately I 've been eating out and falling off the wagon a bit. I haven't gained tho, probably due to my exercising, but I need something easy.

When I was using personalcheftogo.com, the food was cooked fresh with all natural ingredients and was balanced meals. Delivered fresh in a cold package. So something like that but for diets would be ideal.

I was shocked, but they said they like it. She's an amazing cook (but apparently uses unhealthy stuff). To each their own I guess. They load up on veggies between meals, maybe that's what they're staying full on!

My Aunt tried Nutrisystem and said, "No wonder the people lose so much weight! The food is so nasty they can't eat it!" She cancelled after the first month.

I have tried their chips because our Big Lots sells Nutrisystem products. They were "okay", but I would much rather prepare my own meals.

I use the local grocery store here, they have online shopping and it allows me time to plan, really read all the labels and consider what I am going to buy. Luckily their price on that is very reasonable. Its only 6 dollars for them to shop my order and me pick up at the door, or for another $6 they will deliver (nice on bad winter weather days!!). If I do it right other than a few fresh things I can pick up easily when I run out this will last me several weeks.
  • I've never heard anything positive about any of these plans...including huge names like The Biggest Loser. Personally, I am fine with whatever diet frozen dinners are on sale at the time - whether it be Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones...or most recently, I've found a brand called Michaelyn's which has full DIET meals for 99 cents! They are just as good tasting as the other meals.
