Are the calories burned per a HRM legit?

I wear my heart rate monitor, but it always says that I burn way more calories than what MFP says, or what other sources from the internet say I should be burning. My settings are set correctly, but I hate to trust it and consume too many calories! Any advice is appreciated - thanks!

It has a chest strap to monitor your heart rate constantly right? Would help to know which one you have and what its saying you burned for a given exercise/avg heart rate

Yes it has a chest strap that constantly measures heart rate. It's a Polar F4 - I've had it for a few years...

I find that the HRM says I burned more on some exercises and less on others that the machine or MFP. So I think it is a pretty accurate number. I feel like I have been losing more consistantly since I got my HRM then I was before I got it. (Only had about 1 1/2 months.)
    Just my $.02

It would be far more accurate than using another calculator. The numbers in MFP and online are average values for average people. You are obviously not an average! I would trust the HRM over a calculator any day. It's set for you, your height, your weight, your age. The other calculators don't take all this into account.
