"Just for Fun" Lifts to Complement Compound Lifts

I've been doing Stronglifts for the past week or so and I'm thinking of adding some extra lifts just for fun, like bicep curls and weighted calf raises.

Just wondering if anyone else does extra lifts after their compounds and which ones they do.

Sure, I do "complimentary" lifts here and there. Things like bicep curls, plie squats (love those), tricep dips, etc.. I try to keep the weight down as to not tire myself out for the next workout that would use that muscle group.

As far as I'm concerned, a little extra isn't gonna hurt!

Just don't do anything thats requiring much effort.
Programs like stronglifts and starting strength are basic because thats what beginners need. People always feel the need to overdo it and add a lot of stuff in.

That being said, adding a lift or two on occasion won't hurt.
I like throwing in biceps curls occasionally.

    I triple set most stuff.

    Last night.

Free weight squats + dumbell military presses + dumbell curls x 3 sets

Powercleans to over head press + crunches.

Dead lifts + shoulder flys + crunches

No I don't think I would add a lot, probably just those two for now to be honest and likely only once or twice a week. I was just thinking about it for days when I'm not totally spent after my main workout.

I'm doing StrongLifts as well. I normally use Tuesday/Thursday to do lighter complementing weights.

I just started Stronglifts as well...after doing Jamie Eason's Live Fit tranier which was like a zillion different lifts. I enjoyed Live Fit, but there was no way I could remember what to do from day to day, had to have a notebook. I like the simplicity of Stonglifts. I have thrown in barbell bicep curls and some tricep bench dips, but not much else :) You can add me if you'd like some support!

I do isolation lifting to complement my compound program & even my bootcamp class has started the same. We do a few tricep extension sets or tricep dips, bicep curls (two ways - front & to the side) and some hammer curls. My forearms are getting pretty too. Sometimes instead of bicep curls, we do rows or flys. I think it's a good idea though if you have an area that seems it needs a bit more oomph or attention. My area is my chest... I'm just not as strong there and I do pushups. Still the girl-style, but I started only being able to do 7 and now I can do 25 :D
