Tools for Success - food substitutions

I apologize if something like this has already been posted. I am new here :P I would like to create a thread to help people find better alternatives for their previous food choices. Part of dieting is cutting out certain foods, and a lot of people have trouble filling the void left behind when they no longer have food X in their diet.

Please post any substitutions you have made that have helped you succeed! it might help others succeed, too :).

My substitution:

I slice up cucumber, WITH the peel, and eat those instead of chips (or, "crisps" for my over-the-pond friends). You get the crunch without the carbs. And fat. And sodium....

    First- PORTION CONTROL ON EVERYTHING!
    Low Calorie whole grain bread
    Egg White Omelets with veggies instead of whole eggs
    Fresh or No salt Frozen Veggies instead of canned
    Fresh Fish instead of processed
    Ground Turkey instead of Beef
    Small Salad for after dinner snack
    Vinegar and oil or lemon, mustard and oil instead of bottled dressing
    Crazy Richards Natural no salt Peanut Butter
    Low Sugar Jelly (No artificial sugar)
    Low Fat Popcorn instead of Potato Chips
    Water or Tea instead of Soda
    No products made with white flour

    plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream
    powdered peanut butter instead of regular pb
    fresh fruit instead of jelly/preserves
    frozen greek yogurt bars instead of ice cream
    lettuce/greens in place of bread
    laughing cow cheese in place of sliced cheese or cream cheese
    sparkling water instead of soda
    berries instead of candies
    frozen banana instead of ice cream
