i just read the most awful post on here. why eat or something i was horrifid. i suffered with anorexia and am just getting my head sorted - body caught up a lot quicker than my head. i want to loose a bit of weight but i have to do this healthy. these people dont realise how much it ruins you. my body cant porcess calories the same i cant eat a huge amount without seeing a big gain. i have given myself problems i should never have had, and not through vanity, mine started when i was 6 - 6 year olds arent intrested in looks. so i just can not believe what i just read. seriously is it just me who thinks thats crazy????? why would someone think its okay to not eat, and this person was a 'mature' adult. ?!?!?

So sorry you stumbled on that post... I saw it too. It has been locked, and just about every person advised her to get help.

Congratulations to you for turning things around. I used to work with someone, who was an adult, who had to be hospitalized for her disorder... and she had two kids! So you are on the right track, and hopefully you are still getting professional help to make your recovery easier!

I read the post and thread you are refering to. I agree it was completely ludicrous. It did sound like she wasn't 'completely' starving herself, but she will not learn portion control and healthy habits. It is the worst thing on the body. I'm sorry to hear you had developed a severe eating disorder - and so young. I hope you have been able to get some counseling for the underlying causes. Good luck in continuing to be healthy and well.

I'm sorry about your issue, but not everyone here has anorexia, and fasting does work for some people.

The MFP staff blocked the thread because it could encourage bad eating habits... Good job MFP police

Furious Pete was hospitalized for anorexia. Now he's a bodybuilder and professional eater. You should check him out on youtube. ...or maybe not, I kinda threw up in my mouth a little bit when he drank a bottle of olive oil, but you know what I mean. It's possible to overcome that mindset that got you into anorexia if you channel it into something positive for you.

I would disagree. Being able to distinguish between information that does and does not apply to you is an important life skill. I suggested the poster speak to a doctor because I have no idea whether or not s/he has an eating disorder. Fasting is indeed a method that is used by many people who are healthy.

Obviously, I am not encouraging anyone to become anorexic. But the idea that everyone who explores fasting is anorexic is a mistake and patronizing.
