So I wanna start running sometime this year with the couch to 5k program but I have a question for all you runners out there, When you first started running, did you ever feel stupid or dumb , cuz every time I try to run on the roads or trails I feel idiotic for some reason, like I'm running away from something ..has anyone ever had this same feeling or am I the only one?

You probably feel this way because it is new to you and your confidence level is probably low. I would encourage you to read runner's world magazine, find a local running club. Running clubs have forums and tell you where group runs are and when and where races are. You will find in the running community there are people of all shapes, sizes and speed. Runner's always encourage other runner's .

I felt like a complete bozo when I started running (it was even worse as summer ended and I went outdoors in running tights). I was (and still am) slow and not exactly the picture of athletic grace.

My biggest confidence booster was signing up for my first race and seeing that there were lots of other runners who looked like me. The atmosphere was welcoming and it's amazing how much encouragement and guidance the more experienced runners are willing to give.

Get yourself a pair of shoes that fit well, train consistently and build up your distances gradually. It's very empowering the first time you actually run a mile or two without stopping!
