adipex!

I just started adipex last weekend. I heard it worked great. For me it hasnt done much. At first was very sick. Then feel ok but not energized. It does control hunger pretty well. I am only consuming about 500 cal a day. But have only lost 2 lbs this week so far. I did read on the internet unless you are grossly obese you will not lose very quickly so I am disappointed to say the least. I am not lazy and short cutting. I am jump starting I still go to gym 6 days a week. Anyway anyone else have experience with this pill and how did it work for you?

You're eating 500 cal per day and going to the gym 6 days a week?

Have you discussed this with your doctor?

You don't have to take pills and starve yourself to do this.

Yeah with the adipex you have no apetite. Im pushing to eat that. I dont over do it at the gym. I simply bike 5-10 miles or walk 3 miles. I keep my heart rate in check. I am under a dr's care. I am at a stall tho so I may try to eat more like 1000 cal and see what happens.

Why would you not want an appetite? Food is good for you. It's necessary.

Stick within a calorie goal that gives you a moderate deficit.
    Move more.
    Done.

What you are doing sounds a bit unsafe and sets you up for failure later. You are not going to eat 500 calories per day forever, so why do it now?

You are eating 500 calories worth of pure crap. It seems to be a lot of fast food. Increase your caloric intake and eat food that is better for you.
  • Ok, so I was recently put on adipex too. Before the adipex I tried to maintain a daily caloric intake of about 1200 calories. My doctor recommended that while on adipex I bump that up to 1500 or even 1600. Am I saying that I'm able to eat 1500 or 1600 calories a day? No, but I try to eat as much as I can. I've lost a good amount of weight for the less than a week I've been taking adipex, and I wouldn't say I'm "grossly obese". The reason you aren't losing weight is that your body is being starved. And trust me, I understand it's hard to make yourself eat when you have no appetite, but it's necessary. Would you expect your car to run without fuel? No. You shouldn't expect your body to do so either.
And another thing, are you doing only cardio? Because even if big muscle isn't your goal, muscle helps burn fat so it might help to add a bit of weight training to routine as well.

I ate around 1500 cal daily before the Adipex. I started keeping a food diary when I began my Adipex because my doctor told me flat out that she wouldn't keep presctribing it unless I showed that I was making an effort and not relying a 'miracle' drug. My county is bad for obesity and people looking for a miracle cure.
I kept my intake to 1100 or under calories per day, and documented everything that I ate. The Adipex made me thirsty, so I drank a lot of water (nothing else quenches the dry mouth), and it kept me from eating in the evening (or 'grazing') when I was bored instead of hungry.
I used it as a tool for weight loss, not as a crutch or miracle drug. Only eating 500 cal per day will make you lose weight in the beginning, but will stave your body. You NEED calories to burn calories! Eating one meal per day is not going to make your body lose weight. Think of horses...they can graze lightly all day long and lose weight, but put one in a sedentary lifestyle and feed it just twice a day, even low amounts of food, and that horse will gain weight even though they are eating less calories. People evolved as hunters & gatherers before technological advancements... we are programmed that way. Eat lightly all day and you will lose the weight.
For example, I would have my coffee in the morning (If my dr had said no caffeine, I would have cried and run away), maybe a piece of fruit, and then lunch would be a big plain salad with a packet of tuna on it, then a normal dinner of chicken breast and kale, etc. The Adipex kept me from being so hungry that I would eat junk, and would let me make and eat a normal healthy dinner. Now I don't want the junk, but I can eat occasional junk or fast food and not pay the price, because I eat sensibly the rest of the time. I do credit the Adipex for letting me get to that point.

Seriously.... eat closer to 900-1000 cal if you are planning on eating that little, keep a food diary, and keep going with the exercise. Make sure you do some strength training as well as the cardio because the muscle will keep burning calories long after the Adipex is gone.
