Canned Soups....question

So I know canned soups are SUPER high in sodium. My question is....if I drain the broth, does it cut down on sodium and if so, does anyone know how much? Today has been a crazy chaotic day and it was a "fend for yourself" type of dinner evening. I wanted soup. So I had some. I'm still under for sodium for the day, but it put me at like 2200 for sodium and I try to stay as close to 1500 as I possibly can.
