Today when I logged my weight , MFP asked if I wanted them to update my goals. I assumed they thought I was ready, so I said "yes". I am 5'2" and currently weigh 264.4, I started out at 286.4. I have a very demanding job, but unfortunately I do it sitting on my rear-end about 10-12 hours a day, so I chose sedentary lifestyle. I was walking daily, but this past week has been filled with long hours working and other than back and forth to the ladies' room and the car, I haven't walked much more. Anyway, I started out with 1370 calories per day and now it changed me to 1240. My goal is to lose 100 lbs at a rate of 2 lbs per week.
My primary concern is, I thought 1200 calories per day is what your body needs and I still have a ton of weight to lose and I'm worried about eating to few of calories to soon into this journey.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!! I"M CONFUSED!!

1370 to 1240?
Usually after 10lbs the drop in calories isnt 130, it's something much less... at least not for me. You must have had it on light activity before?
And yes, 1240 is low for you.0 -
Congrats on losing 22 pounds! If you think that 1200 calories is not enough, then you are probably right. A lot of people on here will say that everyone should be eating above 1200, no matter what. Others will say that they eat just fine on 1200 calories and aren't hungry at the end of the day. I think that most people should be eating above 1200, because 1200 is usually below their BMR, and it's not a good idea to eat below your BMR for long periods of time. If you don't know what your BMR is, you should find out.
I would suggest that you try eating 1200 calories for a week or two to see how you feel. If it's not working for you, you'll probably have to up your calories, which will also have the side effect of slower weight loss. However, you will probably also feel much better eating more.0 -
I forgot to add that my diary is open to view if you would like to take a peek.0

Try setting your goal to 1.5lbs instead.0

Or even setting it to 1lb per week. Chances are you'll lose a little more than that if you exercise or don't fill all your calories on some days. You definitely need a little extra wiggle room though.0
