OK quick an exciting subject for me at least - when you train and you burn calories, you are losing weight in theory, you are burning energy in theory you are becoming fitter through the course of building strength/stamina in theory :D however ! there is will wall i must climb and that is the food to eat after this massive work out/ cardio burn ....

.. i seem to re fuel on high carbs to re fill the hole and expenditure - anyone else have this trouble too ? is it that bad ? MFP "eat back" calories allow you this pleasure but ultimately are we not just making a stale mate of the situation by re filling those calories into our system ? or is the body craving this re fuel to repair / re build / re fill those glycogen stores and is it good for you?

for clarity, im talking a re fuel of half a snickers bar, powerade, veggie omelette , maybe some cake ...

  • I always have the problem with refueling with carbs because I always go for a massive bowl of cereal with soya milk so it's like having breakfast all over again..

Actually, the ideal situation is after a cardio workout to ingest a ratio of 3:1 Carbs to protein. Chocolate milk is just about perfect for that (low fat, of course). But after a heavy muscle session, I waaay up the protein. I will take in 50-60g of protein after going heavy to rebuild my muscles. So, what I eat after a workout depends on the workout, and I plan it out.. I prepare my post workout meal before the workout then take it with me so that I get it in immediately, and it's all I have access to.. so I'm not tempted by something else equally as fast but way worse for me.
