I decided to stop dieting, then started losing again?

After losing 40 lbs (30 lbs with mfp), I decided I would see how I did about maintaining because I hadn't lost for a month. I figured that after summer I would restart and lose that next 20, and also see how I did about maintaining. When I stopped I'd been fluctuating between 169.5 and 172, never lower. Now, a week and a half later, after a ton of 2000 calorie or more days, I am losing again! Did my body start holding on to calories and is now deciding I won't starve it for awhile, it's safe or what?
Either way, I'm happy!

I'm not sure but i've been up and down this last month and on the weeks i've ate 2000+ i drop and atm i'm just trying to get my brain to register this so i can keep eating more and losing rather than when i eat less i stall.

Hope this makes sense, it did when i started typing lol.

    Anyways good luck :)

I have heard a lot of people on here say that they hit a plateau and then increase their calorie intake and BAM the weight comes off again. I don't understand the complete science behind it but your body needs a certain amount of calories per day and as you get closer to your goal weight that calorie intake increases. And when i say intake i mean net calories of course.
Just consider it a blessing, readjust your settings and go from there! You have done some awesome work so far so don't gice up! And don't take a break from your weight loss journey say in 5 months you lose 40 pounds, how awesome would that be but if you took a 2 month break it would now take 7 months to hit your mark and 5 months down the road you will regret it. Healthy choices and lifestyle changes are the key to weit loss that stays off.
    Good luck!!!

That has happened to me before. I went on vacation, went crazy with the food, and lost 3 pounds. It got me interested in cycling calories. I've actually had a lot of luck mixing up calories, keeping the weekly average at maintenance for my goal weight and then eating below it some days, above it on others and at it the rest of the time. It seems to work better for me, because my body plateaus really fast if I eat the same amount every day. This is probably because I'm only about 13 lbs above my goal, and those are usually the toughest ones to lose.

    Congrats on the surprise results!

your reasoning "did it decide its safe or what" makes perfect sense to me! that's what it does! EAT EAT EAT!
