What do you do to stay motivated and on track when sick?

My boss shared his cold with me and I feel awful. Last night I didn't do any of my exercising and I don't want to get into that kind of a habit. How do you stay on track when you feel like crap?

Currently getting over a cold myself, here's what I do. I continue to eat well, perhaps even a bit cleaner than before. The body is trying to heal, it needs nutrients to do this. When I'm sick I take zinc and always take a multi each day. (I usually only take a multi if I'm low on vitamins from my food that day)

For the working out, it makes me feel SO much better. When I'm sick and dragging, I look forward to my post-workouts periods of feeling awesome. It clears up sinuses and stuffy noses better than any cold medicine I've ever tried. And it gives me a nice energy boost. This cold went a bit into my chest at first, so I was cautious and started my run earlier this week at an easy pace, to see if I'd be able to breath properly. Once I could tell it felt okay, I just held steady at that pace and didn't try to push anything.

The hubby and I actually picked up the same cold. I did what I said above and am feeling good, with most of the symptoms gone or reduced significantly. The hubby stayed home from work, stopped his normal workouts and mostly ate canned soup, toast and bananas. And he's still almost as bad as he was when we first got sick.

*Edited to add* Obviously, this is all just for a basic cold. If it's something more than that, or a deep/set-in chest cold or cough, then you need to listen to your body in regards to the exercise factor and do what works best for you.

I just focus on getting better and eating whatever my body is craving when I'm sick. Once I get better then I just get back on track with my favorite phrase, just do it!

I am currently sick as a dog! I am coughing and my nose is dripping 24/7. I have no appetite at all but I am retaining water and gained 3 pounds of water weight. All that said, I am focusing on rest and drinking lots of water. I am not working out because I can't breathe when I do. I am not going to let this get me off my plan, I am just taking a break to allow my body to heal.

It depends on how sick I am or what I'm sick with. If I've got some sort of stomach bug or respiratory thing going on I won't work out, but right now I have strep throat but still pushed myself to do a bootcamp workout. It definitely sucked but I felt better after I did it. Oh, and I'm logging in every cough drop! (Crazy, I know!)
