My other half is starting the Durkin diet today - what is people's thoughts on this one? Sounds a bit of a fad to me - 14 day of just meat!

    Do you mean "Dukan"? It sounds complicated, and not unlike the Atkins Diet.

    I've never heard of this diet before but just the name itself leads me to believe it's a joke. I really can't say it without giggling.

    It's another in a long line of high protein, low carb diets with very strict rules regarding what you're allowed to eat.

    The bottom line is that people who can actually stick to these diets will lose weight fairly quickly, whether or not they can keep it off is another question altogether. The problem with "diets" in general is they don't address long term behaviour of the dieters who, almost invariably, return to their old habits and put back all the weight they lost and then some.
