Fitbit/HRM/Both?

I am seriously considering an addition to the family in the shape of a 'fitbit'. I love my Polar HRM and adore the results i get after a heavy workout but I am on my feet all day at work so i'm thinking the fitbit will be ace on the days i don't visit the gym.
If im attached to both devices on gym days how do i know which results to log? (fitbit doesn't know my heart rate so cant give me an accurate burn but it will have taken in consideration how much distance i have covered) if i log both results surely i've doubled up on some calories burnt & i haven't created an accurate reading?
am i making any sense? (i'm confusing myself!)
thanks for 'trying' to understand

Definitely both! The fitbit does a lot of great stuff, but one thing it does not do well is track exercise calories. Enter heart rate monitor! I have both and I love it. The HRM and the fitbit are set to the same time, so the HRM tracks the time of my workout as well as how long and how many calories I burned. All I do is put that info into MFP, and it overrides the fitbit data. I have enjoyed them both, and definitely worth the money spent.0

Both! I use the Polar for workouts and the Fitbit for daily tracking and "movement through space" like walking.0

I use both, one for regular activity, and the HRM for exercise0

lol its not you, a few people have mentioned it and I wanted to know if they worked together. Its hubby who will kill me £65 for my Polar HRM and now the fitbit lol!!0 -
I tried both today, calories only differed by 18 cals. I like each for certain things. I like the fitbit for hikes and will use hrm for weights, and stuff like 30 ds and p90x. Also will be using hrm for kayaking cause the fitbit isnt waterproof.0
