consumed and net calories

Hi

My calories for the day should be 1200 and I am fine with that, but at the end of the day if my consumed calories are higher than 1200 I kinda start stressing out even if my net calories are below 1200.

Should consumed calories be equal to net calories? In case you're wondering why I am asking this question after a 70lb loss, it's because that weight I lost I did on my own (no program) Since I am fairly new on MFP I want to be clear on the consumed and net calorie thing.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Suggest eating your 1200 and half of your exercise cals back. MFP seems to not adjust for BMR calories that would normally be burned during exercise time. Example: 1200 consumed - 600 burned = 600 net. You still need to eat 300cals for a 900 net. Yes I know under 1k cals isn't advisable, this is just an example. You may even eat back up to 75% of exercise cals but really wouldn't eat them all.
