If you fall short on your calories on a certain day....

..because you're just not all that hungry, do you ...
a) Eat something to make up the shortfall even if you don't fancy it
b) Save the calories for the next day
c) Save for several days so you can have a real treat?

OR do you aim for a weekly average so the daily total is less relevant?
Also, what sort of 'shortfall' would you consider acceptable at 1200 calories per day, assuming you do make the calories up on other days? 100? 200? More?

Thank you :)

I just stay under for the most part. I have a hard time eating back exercise calories because I workout late at night. My body doesn't react poorly to it though so it works for me. I'm consistently 500-800 under my goal on workout days and 100-200 on non-workout days.

I'm always under by a few hundred once I excercise. I dont try to be exact.

I try to be around my goal calories. If I'm significantly under (happened yesterday), I do try to make up for it.

If you were going below your BMR, what would you suggest?

On the same day, or is it OK to go up and down as long as the weekly average is OK?

I am usually under by 100-300 calories (1300 calorie diet) a day because I'm just not that hungry throughout the day. I don't eat my exercise calories usually unless I'm feeling really hungry. I just listen to what my body wants, if I feel hungry, I eat. I don't ever force myself to eat if I'm not hungry. I also do not "save" my calories, I do it day by day. If I'm under one day, that has no bearing on what I do the next day, it's like a clean slate to me. My only exception is days that I go running. I'm usually not very hungry that day, but really hungry the next day, so I give myself a little lee-way (maybe an extra 100-200 calories). I've been losing 1-2 lbs per week, but of course everyone is different, so what works for me, may not work for anyone else.

OK, that makes sense. I'm often just not hungry, so I'd hate to eat just for the sake of making up a couple of hundred calories, and every now and then I love a treat. Had a glass of wine today though... that was totally worth it :)
